Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 September 2026

Your privacy matters. This policy explains in plain English what information TypeSwift (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects when you use our free online typing practice website, why we collect it, and what we do with it. The short version: we collect almost nothing, and we never sell your data.

1. Information We Collect

We collect three categories of information:

  • Information you provide voluntarily. If you email us through the Contact page, we receive whatever you put in the form (name, email, message).
  • Information collected automatically. Like virtually every website, our hosting provider and analytics tool collect basic technical data: pages visited, referrer URL, browser type, device type, screen size, country (derived from IP), and approximate timestamps. We use this only to understand aggregate traffic patterns and to fix bugs.
  • Information we do NOT collect. We do not record the paragraphs you type, your WPM results, your keystrokes, or any test answers. The typing test runs entirely in your browser, and the data is discarded the moment you close the tab.

2. Cookies and Local Storage

We use a small number of first-party cookies and browser local storage items to remember your preferences (such as the last test duration you picked) and to measure traffic. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party retargeting pixels, or social-tracking scripts. You can disable cookies entirely in your browser without losing access to any of the typing practice features.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the limited information we collect to:

  • Operate, secure, and improve the typing test and website.
  • Respond to your emails and support requests.
  • Detect and prevent abuse, bots, and security incidents.
  • Comply with applicable laws.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone, for any reason.

4. Third-Party Services

To run a fast, free website, we rely on a small handful of vetted third-party processors. Each operates under its own privacy policy:

  • Hosting & CDN — to serve the site quickly worldwide.
  • Privacy-friendly analytics — to count visits without tracking individuals.
  • Email & form handling — to deliver the contact form to our inbox.
  • Google Fonts — to load the Inter and JetBrains Mono fonts.

5. Data Retention

Contact-form messages are kept for as long as needed to handle your request and are then archived or deleted. Aggregated analytics are retained for up to 26 months and contain no personal identifiers.

6. Children's Privacy

TypeSwift is suitable for users of all ages, including children learning to type. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information through the contact form, please email us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct or delete your personal data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing activities.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, emailprivacy@typeswift.com.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and, where appropriate, notify users through a banner on the homepage.
